Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 may have done away with a majority of the Carry Forward system after backlash from fans, but there is a handful of CoD Zombies content that is making the jump over to the upcoming sequel. The outfit rewards from completing the Terminus, Citadelle Des Morts, Shattered Veil, and Reckoning main quests will be usable in BO7, giving dedicated players some options for the Requiem crew. Additionally, Gobblegum stashes built up throughout the Black Ops 6 life cycle will be usable within Black Ops 7, meaning that all the existing Gobblegum options will be present within the new release. Ideally, this should give Treyarch room to add a wide range of new Gobblegums and classic ones from the BO3 era.
Shopping Free
At the top of the list is Shopping Free, a Gobblegum from the beloved CoD Zombies entry Black Ops 3 that players have been calling for the return of ever since BO6 debuted. This Gobblegum makes it so that every single purchase is free for an entire minute, something that speedrunners ran wild with and casual players loved since it could speed up games. If quick enough, gamers could use this Gobblegum to Pack-a-Punch their weaponry free of charge, open up an entire map, and grab several perks, setting themselves up for an easy match after only a couple of rounds. Given how powerful Shopping Free is, it would likely need to be in the Ultra category.
Shopping Free has been requested by fans as a potential Black Ops 6 super Easter egg reward, though it’s currently unclear if a super Easter egg will even be added in Season 6, so BO7 seems like a more likely place for Shopping Free’s return.
Alchemical Antithesis
A must-run Gobblegum in the BO3 Zombies days, this buff made it so that players restored 1 ammo for every 10 points they would have normally earned, with the effect lasting 60 seconds and players having two activations per Alchemical Antithesis. Essentially, this gave the player infinite Wonder Weapon ammo whenever the gum was in effect. While this trivialized the gameplay and was frowned upon by some players, as Alchemical Antithesis and the Storm Bow were all that was needed to reach high rounds on Der Eisendrache, it was a lot of fun to use here and there. Since the Gobblegum system in BO6, and likely BO7, doesn’t offer classic gums that can be used over and over for free, it would be far less overpowered this time around.
Aftertaste
This fan-favorite Gobblegum would be a natural fit as an Epic rarity pull, as it simply makes it so that players do not lose their perks when being revived for 3 rounds. CoD Zombies fans have to think carefully when they choose to activate it due to this fairly small window where it’s in effect, but when it’s in use, it can make particularly tricky quest steps and boss fights a lot less risky. Considering that Aftertaste appeared in the background of a Gobblegum event earlier in Black Ops 6’s life cycle, perhaps it will be added in the final season of BO6. If not, it’d make for a killer day one addition to BO7.
New Gobblegums
There is no shortage of opportunities for never-before-seen Gobblegums to be introduced in Black Ops 7, with the following just being some of the many possible things that Treyarch could come up with:
- “Drive-Hi!” – Instantly spawn the Ashes of the Damn Wonder Vehicle at the location of the player who used this Gobblegum.
- “Tasty Timesaver” – Instantly complete the map’s Wonder Weapon-building side quest.
- “Bear With Me” – Spawn a Turned Zombie bear companion in Ashes of the Damned.
- “Wunderfast” – Spawn in the Wunderfizz machine instantly when activated.
- “Golden Gum” – Grants the player the golden armor from The Tomb on any map, but the ability only lasts 5 rounds per use.
- “Dead Ops Delight” – When activated, acquire a random buff from Dead Ops Arcade. Options could include the chicken companion, dashes, and more.
- “Jumpy Jokester” – Upon activation, show all other players the map’s secret jumpscare (Whimsical).
- “Wonderous Weirdness” – When activated, swap the Mystery Box’s Wonder Weapons with those from a different map.
Hopefully, Treyarch will get as creative with the Gobblegum added to Black Ops 7 as it did with the new backstories for the classic CoD Zombies crew, as there’s near-endless potential for creativity with the feature.
