Pochettino has maintained that Chelsea will not need to move players out in order to raise funds for new additions this month. The club have spent over £1 billion ($1.2bn) since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital bought the Blues, and they have been linked with further signings this month, including Brentford's Ivan Toney and Napoli's Victor Osimhen.

Asked about the prospect of selling to buy, Pochettino said: "No, it is not like this. Like you know, too many rumours going around the clubs. It is not what they translate to me. It is not necessary to sell to buy some players."

Chelsea's remarkable investment thus far has yet to pay off on the pitch, with Pochettino's side currently languishing in 10th in the Premier League table, 12 points behind fourth-placed Arsenal and 17 behind leaders Liverpool. They are nearer the relegation zone than top spot.
