After being frozen out at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca in the summer, Sterling joined the Gunners on loan at the end of the transfer window. Havertz was shocked by the news of the England international's arrival and is delighted to be playing alongside him again.

"It's so nice to have him back. I didn't speak to him before he came because I didn't even know he was coming! I was looking on my phone and I just saw he's close to joining Arsenal," he said to . "I saw him after our game against Brighton and it was nice to see him again because I already had a good relationship with him at Chelsea. He's a top-class player, he proved it so many times in the Premier League already. I think it's great to have him here and I think he's really going to enjoy his time here."

The winger has made three appearances for the north London team since his arrival, making his first start for the club when they beat Bolton 5-1 in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday after being an unused substitute in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City last week.
