Megabonk is already a huge hit on Steam, as the indie roguelike title has sold over one million units within the first two weeks of availability. Megabonk developer Vedinad shared news of the milestone on social media and said that new patches to fix bugs and other issues with the game are still being worked on.

Despite its recent September 18 launch date, Megabonk has quickly stepped into the spotlight on Steam. As a roguelike title often compared to Vampire Survivors and other games, Megabonk‘s gameplay loop involves players defeating as many waves of enemies as possible while gaining levels and weapons to extend their run. While Vampire Survivors is known for its 2D pixel style, Megabonk is a 3D title with graphics comparable to the PlayStation and Nintendo 64 era of video games. Megabonk currently holds a 94% positive rating on Steam and held an all-time peak of over 117,000 players during the first weekend of October 2025.

Megabonk Has Sold Over A Million Units On Steam In Just Two Weeks

With Megabonk‘s high Steam player count still holding fast, the game’s developer revealed that it had reached a significant milestone already. On October 2, Vedinad revealed that Megabonk sold over one million copies on Steam within its first two weeks. Vedinad stated that they would be “eating spaghetti with extra sauce” as a way to celebrate the occasion. However, Vedinad stated that Megabonk‘s development would continue after taking a short break, as they wanted to add some things and fix some lingering issues with the game. The developer also expressed that they wanted to create a roadmap for future Megabonk updates, though no timetable was stated.

Vedinad said in a separate post that a Megabonk update scheduled for this week will address some leaderboard issues that came up due to cheating. In response, users congratulated Vedinad on Megabonk‘s success and encouraged the developer to take as much time as needed. What makes Megabonk‘s success more notable is that the game was originally supposed to launch on September 4, though it was pushed back two weeks due to the arrival of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Additionally, Megabonk’s arrival came a week before another roguelike title, Hades 2, went live.

Despite being sandwiched between two other indie hits that were near-instant successes, the fact that Megabonk sold a million copies in its first two weeks is nothing short of impressive. As more players try out Megabonk for the first time, it remains to be seen what plans Vedinad has in store for Steam’s latest indie darling.
