It will be played before the 2020 season between a team formed from the franchises from the north and east – Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders – and one formed from the franchises from the south and west – Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
